Trades situation:
Over the next 7 years 70% of the workforce is retiring and trades are looking to transition 'New Talent' into workforce.
|
Employment situation:
There are hundreds of trades jobs available and accessible with limited affordable training opportunities.
|
What we do:
We bring 'New Talent' to the trades
│ Youth │ Newcomers │ Women │ Career Changers
We employ you, with employer partners, offer 'hands on' training and knowledge transfer and take you through to certification. Once you have worked through the program, we send a 'tester' to site and you 'show competency' to receive certification.
Learn slow. Learn fast. Training and advancement based on you.

What we're about:

C-STA is boots-on-the-ground learning.
We believe trades should be taught primarily hands-on. Classrooms have their place, but we know that for people truly suited to the trades, getting their hands on the tools is the best way to learn. There are thousands of individuals across BC who struggle with the traditional education system.
But these are exactly the kinds of individuals we know tend to make the best tradespeople. By offering hands-on learning, we get these individuals trained to the highest standards without forcing them through papers and books and tests.
C-STA works directly with industry and real tradespeople to develop the modular training courses. This training is rooted in not only skill development but the trade knowledge to use it. Certification is industry accredited and is achieved by completing all modules, as well as demonstrating good crew feedback. Testing is competency-based, meaning 'show you can do it.'
The Canadian Skilled Trades Association (C-STA) is a registered non-profit.
